~ another man(Matt) is driving his car in a hurry to get somewhere
~ Matt ends up crashing the wedding of Grace and the groom

FIRST WATCH: A bride is getting ready for her own wedding with her bridesmaids, she seemed like she was waiting for someone or something because she was constantly looking at the time. As she was looking at the time another man was driving really fast trying to get somewhere in a hurry. He was yelling over and over again as his car was stopped by the traffic, and he finally gets to the wedding when the bride is at the aisle with the groom.

Who- Matt
What- a wedding
Where- on the road driving to get to a church
When- during the daytime
Why- to interrupt the wedding
How- driving a Jetta VR6

During a stormy and dreadful day Matt is speeding through the drenched roads in a Volkswagen in a hurry to stop Grace and Kade's wedding. Grace has been getting ready for her wedding day with her dad, Oscar, and her bridesmaids, while consistently watching the time.

Student of the Month Final Story

Hope Milne, a freshman at Bowie High School, was recognized for Student of the Month out of 3,000 people. She was awarded during the month of April 2015 and, was recognized for her hard work during school, and her gratitude towards her peers.

Hope has excelled with her grades, and has worked hard for this award. She has made a great influence on others and is an amazing role model for the school. She believes that encouraging students to work hard for what they do will soon show in the future.

“I knew that I would have to sacrifice spending time with my friends and family, but in the end I knew it was all going to be worth it”, explained Hope during her interview.

Hope definitely has an interest in extra curricular activities and volunteering at school and other local places.

“I volunteer during school with Bowie games and fundraisers but I love volunteering at the Dells Children Hospital with cooking food for the children, however I also participate in extra curricular activities at Bowie such as PALS, biology and book club, and Bowie Buddies,” said Hope.

Being recognized for Student of Month has helped Hope in positive and negative ways through out and after the process.

Hope explained that, “This award has let me become a positive role model for the school, yet my teachers expect more of me now that I’ve been recognized for this award, and it is hard to balance my social life and my school life.”

On top of all her schoolwork, keeping her grades up, volunteering, and having time for friends, she even has a part time job every weekend as a babysitter.

“I have a love for kids, and even if it takes time out of my weekend of spending times with my friends and family, my job is fun and I don’t mind putting even more work into my life,” Hope expressed.

Hope has kept her grades up to par continuing school with a 4.1 GPA, and has good things to come in her future.

Hope explained at the end of her interview, “I have always had a dream to attend ATM in the medical field, continue at medical school after college, and make a lifetime career nursing at a surgical hospital.”

Baltimore News Warm-up

This picture is from last night in Baltimore, but this is the less dangerous part of the story. No one knows what truly happened, but from what was heard a police officer shot a black man. During the funeral the black people had a strike, but it turned out pretty bad. This strike turned into a riot, and people were wounded, shot and killed. This has made a big impact so far, it is all over the news and this story will most likely be taken to court. This picture shows a leader, he is leading his friends and family and marching towards the Western District.

Portfolio Analysis- how judges pick winning portfolios and sports photos

1. Watch 3 of the 11 Runner-up videos, and answer the following on your blog for EACH:

a. Name of photographer - Alyssa Schukar
b. General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- poor conditions/ illnesses
c. List three problems that the judges noted with the portfolio -

  • Using only one lens to take the pictures
  • All of the pictures were at a certain distance
  • The pictures all convey the same feeling.
d. List two things the judges like

  • They like some of the backgrounds in her pictures(Haiti/ Caribbean photo)
  •  How the girl fell off the hurdles and all you can see was her legs.
e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like? My overall impression that I got from these most of these photos were very dark toned, I did not like how there were a lot of the same people through the shoot. I liked how she included some happy photos in the video.

a. Name of photographer - Melissa Golden
b. General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- photoj (portraits, old people mostly)
c. List three problems that the judges noted with the portfolio -

  • It had way too many photos of the same people over and over again
  • When you look at the portfolio all you get from them is the same feeling of each picture
  • Some of the pictures weren't quality pictures.
d. List two things the judges like

  • Some of the cool toned portraits
  • Otherwise they didn't have any other interest or positive comments.
e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like? I personally didn't have a great interest in this portfolio, I dint like how there were so many pictures of old people in this portfolio.

a. Name of photographer - Daryl Peveto
b. General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)- portraits/old people
c. List three problems that the judges noted with the portfolio -

  • Very blurry pictures
  • Pictures with meanings
  • Some of the pictures of seniors.
d. List two things the judges like

  • A picture with balancing colors in it
  • Some of the portraits Daryl took.

e. What is your overall impression of the photographer? What did you like or not like? I like this portfolio, I love how each picture has some sort of meaning to it, yet there were so many of those pictures, I like how there were filters on the pictures.

2. Watch the winning portfolio critique (Dustin Snipes), and post the following:

a. What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it? They saw a ton of pictures from different angles, lots of the pictures were action shots, and they ware good quality photos.
b. What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? He is very unique in most of his work, yet the person looking at the picture can tell weather they used photo shop or not.

3. Watch the contest recap video at the very bottom.

a. Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner. The judges kept narrowing the list of portfolios down, picking out the most strong photos, that had a variety of unique photos and that are good quality photos.

Part 2- Individual Images

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it. I agree with the judges about a surfing picture. The judges explained if the photographer could have waited a little longer in the picture it would have been a perfect photo, and I completely agree with the judges.

2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong. I do not agree with a photo with someone being pegged by a goose, it doesn't interest me like it does the judges, there is no meaning to the photo and it just isn't a necessary photo.
